New Site Launched – Wichita Area Association of Realtors

We want to take a quick moment to congratulate a great group of people on a brand new website. We worked with the Wichita Area Association of Realtors to build a much needed refresh of their online identity. It’s going to give them brand new ways to connect with and educate their members in the coming years.

Thanks to everyone at WAAR for being so great to work with, – and good luck with the new site, and the brand new building.

Aluminum is the New White

In usual grand form, Apple put out new MacBooks, and MacBook Pro’s today. Not only are the laptops drool worthy, -listen to some of this copy writing.

“Redesigned, Reengineered. Re-everythinged.”

“So fast, you’ll forget it’s a notebook.”

“What a quantum leap looks like.”

And the best…

“New design. New features. New technologies. All engineered to standards that don’t even exist yet.”

Long live the Steve.

As If We Needed Another Reason to Love Mad Men.

There are so many reasons to be hopelessly in love with the show Mad Men. The cool 60’s vibe, all of the advertising references, beautiful women, handsome men, typography, drama… Not to mention Don Draper. But when your favorite Sterling Cooper employees start following you on Twitter, -it’s almost too good.

side note: This is the power of Twitter, -and the internet in general. Even though in this case it’s a weird, psuedo-connection, it’s still a connection. It really does make someone’s day when they get to interact at some level with a brand that they admire. It’s like getting the email back from Steve Jobs, and pretending in your head that this is the one that he really answered himself. It just feels good. And such a simple thing on AMC’s part. Just a click of a button, and they made fans for life, and got a free blog post out of the deal. That’s the kind of advertising you simply can’t get with money… Class-A move AMC. Never forget what Don Draper said about advertising:

“Advertising is based on one thing: happiness. And do you know what happiness is? Happiness is the smell of a new car. It’s freedom from fear. It’s a billboard on the side of a road that screams with reassurance that whatever you’re doing is OK. You are OK.

If You Build It, They Won’t Come

Change Order has an article about the changing face of the internet called “If you build it they won’t come.” It’s worth linking to, because it solidifies something we’ve been preaching for a while now. The days of sticking a website up, and expecting automatic traffic are long past. You absolutely, imperatively, unequivocally have to promote a site to build an audience. That being said, – it’s not all bad news; there are more efficient, and cheap ways of promoting your site than ever before. At the heart of the article is a relevant thought about the content of a site, and it’s importance to your readers.

“When when you start the planning phase of your next project, sneak a little area into your wireframe that talks about the following: how you want people to get to each page, and why they’ll want to go there. It’s something I almost never see discussed until a site is in build, when you’ve got “the luxury of time” — but I think that’s a weak strategy. Think it out in advance. Let it iterate with the system you’re creating. Get holistic on why every feature connects back to your community, and if it doesn’t, kill it.”
