New Ways to Sell the Same Thing

This company has such a great idea. They’re selling their normal product olive oil, but selling it as an “adopt a tree” plan. You pre-purchase a year’s worth of olive oil, under the adoption plan. Of course it’s really just a way to get you to commit to more product, and a longer relationship by turning a product into a subscription. But it’s such a fun idea, it’s selling like hotcakes.

More companies that sell products ought to be considering ways to market them as a service, or a subscription. Think about all of the things in your life you use regularly. Wouldn’t it be great to subscribe to Kleenex, toilet paper, cosmetics, or even pizza?
